We spent our Christmas break moving into our new home... and we love it here!
Moving has been a slow and gradual process, with a lot of other life happenings flowing around and energy levels just stretching to last each day. Eight weeks ago we had a “moving day” where a bunch of big items came from the little Lodge, where we were living, to Athelney all at once, and over the intervening time we continued to pack up one place and settle into the other. Now although there will be more to do here for years to come, things are complete enough that we are very comfortable in our new home.
We had a great time planning the bedroom murals: done completely with our homemade paints: Our master bedroom, in autumn colours is St. Michael’s tower at the top of Glastonbury’s Tor which we visited in 2018; the girls’ room is a winter’s view of Mt. Ruapehu in New Zealand; the spare room is looking towards Mt. Anne from Hartz Peak in Spring. Our little kids’ bedroom doesn’t have a mural (yet) but it’s summer themed with warm golden yellow coloured walls. We are particularly enjoying our dining set and kitchen benches given to us by Timmermans Furniture. It was these redgum benches we we’re looking forward to which got us looking for other redgum options and we found a lot of redgum floorboards on gumtree which have made such lovely windowseats and archatraves.
Now we are working on an enclosed back yard, where we have planted out lawn, and we’re planning a hothouse and garden beds to go in soon too.
