Redgum features

Last year we visited Timmermans and picked out some stunning Redgum slabs which Pete will make into kitchen counter tops for us. He is also making us an Eiffel table and matching chairs. His work is exquisite and can be seen here:

I have been keeping a lookout for more Redgum to feature elsewhere around the house, but it is not common here in Tasmania. So we were delighted to find, through Gumtree, a large batch of unused tongue and groove redgum floorboards. Well worth the trip to the north coast to load them up on ute and trailer and haul them home. These are not going to go on our floors though, rather, they are destined to box out our window seats, line our living room up to a dado rail, and form our doorjambs and skirting.

Meanwhile, our builder has put on the roof, so *deep breath* now we build the straw bale walls!
